Joe Biden and Career Politicians

Career Politcians

Standing and Fighting Like No One Else

These scrambled brain thoughts are probably not what you think, if you are in the Liberal crowd. They are less an expression my dislike of Biden, Liberals, and The Woke, and more of an expression of contempt for career politicians.

ABOUT JOE

Joe is a career politician.  That is, years ago, Joe determined that a career in politics was highly desirable. Probably because they're paid well, enjoy fame, are respected, have influence and power, and the job comes with so many fringe benefits. Becoming a politician is a worthwhile goal to seek.

Going to law school was a good start. Joe enrolled in an unimpressive law school (Syracuse, currently tied for 103rd in the nation) where he performed unimpressively (76th in his class of 85 students). Being a poor student at Syracuse Law didn't open many doors for Joe, so he turned to politics and won a city council spot. That's when the light bulb snapped on. Joe had no particular intellect, skills, experience, or insight of any kind. He certainly had no ideas or vision for transforming anything. However, a career in politics doesn't necessarily require any of that. He decided to use what he had as best he could - a law degree, city council experience, and being from a blue-collar town. He leveraged these to develop a persona as the representative of the working man. That, in spite of the fact that he has never been a working man, other than being a pool life guard. He became skilled at preparing and speaking to "working-class folks", explaining that he sincerely cared about them and their issues. It worked, time and again, and he was won a Senate seat - no small achievement. Incredibly, he managed to hold onto this Senate seat for 36 years. This, in spite of being caught telling the most outrageous lies about his education in the 1988 election.

His actual performance in law school (as compared to lies he told about his performance in law school) was predictive of his performance in the Senate. That is, unremarkable. To his credit, he regularly showed-up and voted. Moreover, he was there a very long time and he was likeable. He was there so long that appointments, and a few leadership roles, were inevitable. 36 years in the Senate enables a career politician, such as Joe, to make numerous claims to have "supported" this, or "championed" that. A more accurate and realistic assessment of his performance is that he didn't do much of anything, and he was noteworthy only for being unnoteworthy. In a twist of fate, Joe's unnoteworthy reputation was key to his selection as Obama's Presidential running mate. Barack, a black man, needed a white man with Congressional experience to balance his Presidential ticket. Joe's un-noteworthiness was a bonus. More important than having credentials for getting things done, was the lack of political baggage to drag Obama down. Joe was a white man, with Congressional experience, that no one hated. Perfect.

In forty years of "public service", Joe has developed skill and talent at really only one thing - getting elected. At that, he's a pro. There's always a re-election on the horizon and Joe has a formula for dealing with them. He tells his voters what they want to hear, regardless of what that is. That, plus providing them with personal tidbits offered to bolster his credentials and values. However, Joe doesn't regard truth as a requirement for these personal details. Some notable, well-documented, Biden lies are as follows (all fact-checked and verifiable by multiple credible sources):

  • Lying about plagiarizing a British politician's speech.
  • Lying at a speech at the U.S. Naval Academy, saying that he had been appointed to that academy.
  • Lying about being arrested in South Africa in support of Nelson Mandela.
  • Lying about visiting the Tree of Life synagogue in NYC after a terrorist attack.
  • Lying about being a licensed truck driver in his youth.

Like many other politicians, Joe claims to stand, and fight, for so many things. In fact, Joe stands and fights for just one thing - getting elected. At this, Joe is extraordinarily skilled and successful. You have to respect him for that. However, you must understand that Joe has said, and will continue to say, anything he believes will enhance his chances of winning.

Initially, it was Joe behind this strategy. Before long Joe had a staff to do the hard part - determining what his voters wanted to hear and crafting the appropriate language. The reason why Joe has flip-flopped on so many issues, and has a life-long reputation for misspeaking, is because Joe's position on anything is often news to him. Someone else wrote it, and he tries to deliver it as best he can. He may not understand the message and doesn't really care. That's scarcely relevant to his objective of being elected. His personal contribution to the re-election drive has been to deliver stories from the collection of those he's crafted. Joe has told these stories for so long that he doesn't even know if they're true or not. They're simply things that he's said, and must continue to say, to be re-elected. This is what a career politicians do.

Currently, Joe's staff is preparing things for him to say that appeal to the Woke, homosexuals, and Pro-Choice. Joe has played this game long enough to know that he must present these messages with conviction. He knows that he must pretend to be offended, motivated, angered, worried, optimistic, or heartbroken as necessary. He must pretend that he is terribly, terribly concerned about whatever it is that he's been told to be terribly, terribly concerned about. His staff coaches him on this regularly. They reward him with naps and snacks.

Our country needs, and deserves, better than this.

PS - CHARACTER

In the run-up to the 2020 election, the Democrats strongly pitched the notion that, in spite of some significant concerns about Joe's abilities, Joe was a good person. They wanted voters to believe that Joe was honest, and of high moral character. Of course, this was presented in sharp contrast to his opponent, Donald Trump, who had been portrayed as a person of the lowest possible character. Honest and good Joe, the hard-working, working-class, family man, was the man to be trusted to unite the nation and heal the deep divide perpetrated upon us by Trump.

We have learned a few irrefutable things about Joe and his character. First, that for over a decade, Joe has been walking out the door of the West Wing with classified documents and piling them up in his garage and in his Chinese-sponsored office building. He knew that doing so was a violation of law. For what purpose he did this, we do not yet know. It seems unlikely that he did it for home-study and simply forgot to return them. Nevertheless, that's what we'll be told. Second, he was more-than-comfortable to look at a 60 Minute's camera and throw Donald Trump under the bus for doing the exact same thing. The only difference being that Trump did it with fewer documents and stored them in only one location. ...one that was not Chinese sponsored. Third, that Joe's son was facilitating access to his father in exchange for millions in payments from a Ukrainian oil company. Fourth, from the instant that Joe stepped off the podium at which he had given an inaugural speech in which he had pledged to do just the opposite, Joe has not ceased fomenting hatred and division.

A gracious assessment of Joe is that he is simply a serial liar. A more realistic assessment of Joe is that he is a corrupt politician. I'd like to believe that Joe represents the worst of people. Sadly, Joe is merely a recent iteration of corrupt politicians such as have scourged the earth since the beginning of recorded history.
